Hi there! I'm maribell and here are the answers to the things you ask me most. If you can't find what you're looking for, don't hesitate to ring my bell! πβ¨
Yes, completely free! π No payment plans, no premium version, no fine print. Download the app, create an account and off you go watching prices.
So how do I keep going? Well, some purchase links inside the app carry a referral code that lets me receive a small bit of support if you buy some of the products you're tracking. It costs you exactly the same, but it helps me a ton to keep ringing! ππ
And if you fancy giving me a real polish, you can also treat me to a coffee or a snack βπ₯ (you'll see two icons in the app if you feel like it).
Great question! π maribell works with any online store. Yes, you read that right: any. I can learn on my own how to extract information from each store. I'm pretty clever! π§ β¨
If you find a store where I can't quite get it right, let me know! I'm sure I'll take a look and learn fast π
Super easy! Just copy the direct URL of the product you want to track π, go to the "Add product" section in the maribell app and paste the address there.
Just make sure it's the URL of the specific product, not a category page or search results. If you give me a URL with lots of products together, well, how am I supposed to know which one you want! π€·ββοΈ I'm smart, but not a mind reader π. Simple as that! π―
Yes, you need to create an account with your email and a password, or you can sign in with your Google or Apple account. Super quick! β‘
And why do I ask for one? Because your data syncs securely. So if you ever change computers, switch from Mac to Windows (or vice versa), or accidentally delete the app, all your products and alerts will still be there waiting for you. I've got enough on my plate watching prices without having to worry about your data too! π π
maribell works on:
- π macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later β both Intel and Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3...)
- πͺ Windows 10 or later
Both systems have an installable version and a portable version. You choose! π―
The portable version is a version of maribell that doesn't need installation. Download it, open it and it just works. Simple as that. π
It's ideal if you use a shared computer, want to carry it on a USB drive or prefer not to or can't install anything on your machine. The only difference from the installable version is that it doesn't update automatically (you'll need to download new versions yourself).
Absolutely! π Your data is stored securely online so that if you change computers or yours breaks down, you can recover all your products, alerts and settings without any hassle.
You can rest easy. Maribell's word! π
You have two types of alerts:
π Price alerts: Tell maribell at what price you want to buy something. When the product hits that price (or lower), I'll alert you with a notification on your computer and an email. Double alert so you don't miss out!
π Availability alerts: If a product is out of stock, turn on the alert and I'll let you know as soon as it's back. Also with a notification and email.
Plus, before alerting you I double-check that the change is real. I don't want to give you a false alarm! π
Most likely, maribell isn't open. I watch prices from your computer, so I need to be running. If you close me or shut down your computer, prices won't update until you reopen me. π»
Don't worry, you don't need me in the foreground. I can be minimised or in the taskbar. I work quietly like a discreet little bell... until I find a product at your target price or back in stock, and then you'll hear me! ππ
Am I already open and still not updating? Then there might be a little problem I haven't noticed. Tell me about it so I can investigate β I don't want to miss anything! π
Great question! π A little bit because of costs, I won't lie. But the main reason is another one: if I lived on a central server and peeked into shops for thousands of users at once, I'd stick out like a sore thumb! π¨ Shops would see that someone is reading lots of information and would (rightfully) get suspicious, since it would look like I'm someone trying to steal all their info.
Instead, if I live on your computer and only check the products that interest you, I'm just one more regular visitor. Nobody gets suspicious and I can keep ringing the bell for you. ππ
Right now I can fill your basket at Mercadona, Carrefour, El Corte InglΓ©s and Alcampo π. I'm adding more little by little β if your favourite supermarket isn't there yet, let me know and I'll put it on my list. π
This feature lives in the desktop app (Mac and Windows). You can see the comparison from mobile, but the automatic basket-filling has to happen on your computer.
No, no and no! π ββοΈ I open the supermarket's website on your computer and add the products to its basket. You check everything looks right, you hit the "order" button and you pay with your supermarket account β exactly the same as if you were shopping on your own.
I never see your credentials, your cards or your payment details, and I don't process any charge. My job ends when the basket is ready; the final step is yours. ππ
